Editorial standards
Every growing guide on this site is written by the Royal King Seeds Editorial Team. This page says how, so you can judge what you are reading rather than take it on trust.
Who writes these
Written by the Royal King Seeds editorial team from the questions South African growers actually send us, and the conditions they grow in β summer-rainfall provinces, a winter-rainfall Western Cape, and an electricity supply nobody can assume.
What we can speak to, because we do it:
- Selecting and supplying cannabis seed to South African growers
- Answering grower questions through the support desk daily
- Tracking which cultivars are chosen for which provinces and conditions
We publish under the team name rather than inventing an individual. A byline with a portrait and a job title behind which no person exists is worth nothing to you, and we would rather tell you it is a team than pretend otherwise.
What we do not claim
These are things a seed retailer is often tempted to assert. We do not, because we cannot evidence them:
- laboratory testing, batch testing or certificates of analysis
- agronomy, horticultural or medical qualifications
- germination rates or a germination guarantee
- medical or therapeutic outcomes
How the guides are written
- Written for South African conditions specifically β Southern Hemisphere timings, the summer-rainfall pattern over most of the country and the winter-rainfall Western Cape, and an electricity supply nobody here can assume.
- Where a claim is true of one province and not another, we say which. Advice written for Gauteng is actively wrong in Cape Town, and vice versa.
- Figures are given with the conditions they depend on. Where we do not know a number, we say it varies and explain what it varies with, rather than inventing one.
- Effects of a cultivar are described as reported characteristics. They are not medical or therapeutic claims and should not be read as any.
Cannabis and the law
Where our guides touch the legal position they state the framework only: the 2018 Constitutional Court judgment in Minister of Justice v Prince, and the Cannabis for Private Purposes Act 7 of 2024. Sections of that Act commence on dates fixed by the President, so being signed is not the same as being in force.
This is general information and not legal advice. Nothing on this site tells you that buying, importing or selling cannabis seed is lawful in your circumstances. For your own position, read the Act and speak to a qualified professional.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, we would rather know. Email support@royalkingseeds.co.za and tell us which article and what is wrong with it. Articles carry both a published and a last-updated date, and the updated date changes only when the content actually does.
