Will Afgooey handle a South African summer outdoors? Yes. Put this 65/35 indica in the ground between September and November and you will be cutting from March to May. It stays low enough not to clear a boundary wall, and the short frame carries more weight than its size suggests. Bloom runs 8 weeks, placing harvest between March and May across most provinces.

What yield is realistic? up to 0.9 g/watt/m2 (1000W HPS) indoors is reachable under decent LED with steady feeding. Outdoors, over 1 kg/plant a plant is normal in 50 litre pots or straight into prepared ground in full sun. At 20% THC with linalool in front, the return on effort is good.

How much can go wrong before it shows? Some. Anyone who understands pH, a feeding schedule and a light cycle will be fine. Neglect it entirely and it will suffer, but a single missed watering will not undo the grow.

Which medium suits it best? Depends what you are optimising for. Organic soil cut with 30% perlite and amended with bone meal, rock phosphate and kelp meal gives the fuller flavour, and all three are stocked by garden centres, agricultural co-ops and hydro shops countrywide. Coco under automated fertigation at EC 1.4-1.8 through bloom gives the bigger number. This indica genetics performs in either.

Does it cope with real summer heat? Reasonably. The dense foliage shades itself, so a spell above 28°C slows growth without stalling it. Mulch the root zone and water before 7am and heat stress stays manageable through most of the country.

Push the dose and it moves decisively toward physical sedation, which is how it tends to end up as a winter evening cultivar. Held low, at 180-188°C, the myrcene and caryophyllene notes stay legible with linalool underneath them. Run it hotter, or burn it, and the three collapse into one — still pleasant, but without the separation that makes this cultivar worth paying attention to.

Afgooey is a reasonable fit for growers with the basics already in place. Understand pH, know roughly what nutrient ratios do, and be able to hold a light cycle — it will not carry you, but it does not punish the occasional slip either.
