About Bogart Feminised

South Africa is really two growing countries, and Bogart does not behave the same way in both. North and east of the escarpment the rain arrives in summer, so this 41/59 hybrid does its flowering while the air is still heavy; in the Western Cape the rain comes in winter, so the same plant ripens through a dry autumn instead. A 41/59 split travels better than either parent across a country running from subtropical coast to semi-desert. The canopy sits open enough to survive a humid KwaZulu-Natal autumn and dense enough to still look the part after a dry Karoo summer. At 18% THC with limonene leading, what changes between a Johannesburg rooftop and a Cape smallholding is the schedule rather than the result.

Setting Up for South African Conditions

Outdoors, the province decides which problem you are actually solving.

KwaZulu-Natal and the subtropical coast. Humidity rather than heat is the limiting factor here. Whitefly and thrips peak from December through February, so introduce predatory mites (Phytoseiulus persimilis) before you see damage rather than after it. Airflow under the lower canopy matters more on this coast than anywhere else in the country.

The Highveld — Gauteng, Free State, North West. Frost closes the window at both ends. That suits a 55-65 days bloom, provided you start seeds under cover by early September and bank the vegetative growth before the December solstice. Above 1 400 m the ultraviolet index is high enough to push trichome production, but harden transplants off slowly or they bleach.

Western Cape. Flowering falls in the dry half of the year, which makes this the most forgiving outdoor condition in the country for Bogart — the mould pressure that shapes every other region never arrives. The south-easter is your problem instead: weeks of sustained summer wind through December and January will tear an unstaked plant apart.

Indoors the location stops mattering and the numbers take over. Through a summer sitting above 30°C ambient, run lights overnight on a 6pm-6am cycle and you sidestep most heat stress without paying for cooling. Hold humidity at 55-65% in veg and 40-50% once flowers set; EC 1.0-1.4 vegetative, 1.6-2.0 at peak bloom; pH between 5.8 and 6.3 depending on medium.

Difficulty: moderate. In flower for 55-65 days. Stands Medium (150-245 cm). Indoors it returns up to 350 g/m2. Outdoors, up to 350 g/plant a plant.

Aroma, Flavour and Effect

The first thing Bogart does at 18% THC is lift it with a bright, nearly effervescent citrus. The relaxed, happy, euphoric effects follow within minutes, across head and body at once. Thinking stays clear while muscle tension drains off, which leaves the dose as the deciding factor — light for the afternoon, heavier and it moves into the evening without a jolt. Caryophyllene sits underneath all of it, adding a grounding warmth that keeps the whole thing anchored.

The Aromatic Three

Leading with Limonene, then Caryophyllene, and Linalool underneath. This trio turns up repeatedly in cultivars that win things, and it is why a jar of Bogart tends to get a reaction the first time it is opened after curing. Limonene sets the anchor, caryophyllene fills the middle, and linalool sits in the background doing the work that separates this from every other strain built on the same primary terpene.

Suitability and Recommendations

Who does well with Bogart? Indoor growers who want the harvest date to be their decision. Outdoor growers who want to choose the moment flowering starts. Anyone with the room and the patience to veg it properly before flipping. It is rated moderate, which in practice means a moderate learning curve that rewards attention without needing laboratory conditions. Sent nationwide in plain, unbranded packaging, with sourced grow data on every strain page.

Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

Bogart runs through our F3 programme. Most of the pack expresses the target bud density cleanly; the F3-to-F4 cycle is where we close out the last remaining off-types.

Breeding Goal

Cull off-type phenos in Bogart at F3 to lock the cross profile.

Selection Focus

Chosen for terpene profile, vigour, structure and finish-time consistency.

Pollen / Mother Source

Royal King Genetics select-mother programme — pollen drawn from an internally maintained reversed-female line.
