North and east of the escarpment the rain arrives in summer, so this 40/60 cbd does its flowering while the air is still heavy; in the Western Cape the rain comes in winter, so the same plant ripens through a dry autumn instead. A 40/60 split travels better than either parent across a country running from subtropical coast to semi-desert. The canopy sits open enough to survive a humid KwaZulu-Natal autumn and dense enough to still look the part after a dry Karoo summer.
