About Chernobyl Feminised

Chernobyl announces itself in a fixed order, and limonene is always first out of the jar — a citrus lift that arrives before the lid is fully off, lemon rind and tangerine with a sweetness trailing it. terpinolene follows mid-palate, adding a quieter secondary note. The lab figure on this 18/82 sativa is 22% THC, though potency is the least interesting thing about it — plenty of cultivars test the same and taste of very little.

Growing for Aroma Rather Than Weight

The choices that bring out the Limonene/Terpinolene/Pinene profile in Chernobyl are not the choices that maximise yield, and at some point you have to pick one. The aromatic version starts in living soil — microbial activity in an established no-till bed produces secondary metabolites a synthetic feed schedule never will, and South Africa has enough good local compost and worm-casting suppliers to make that affordable rather than aspirational.

Through 8-9 weeks, stop foliar spraying after week two: anything that lands on a developing trichome is still there at harvest. The closing three weeks decide which terpenes end up in front — nights held at 16-18°C push limonene forward, a warmer finish protects the lighter pinene top notes, and you cannot have both. Decide which version of the strain you want before you get there.

Most of the loss happens after the cut. Hang for 10-14 days at 15-18°C and 55-60% humidity, which through a South African summer realistically means a climate-controlled room or a wine fridge set to 16°C. Then jar it and burp twice daily for the first fortnight. The terpinolene layer that makes this cultivar worth the trouble does not surface until somewhere between day 21 and day 28 in glass.

Difficulty: medium. In flower for 8-9 weeks. Stands Tall. Indoors it returns Up to 400g/m². Outdoors, Up to 400 gr a plant.

What Chernobyl Is Like to Use

The effects most commonly reported for this cultivar are creative, focused, energetic. At 22% THC it sits in a bracket where there is a usable working range. Vaporised between 175°C and 185°C it lifts mood and mental energy in a way that suits creative work, a hike, or a long afternoon around a braai. The body stays light, so for anyone with a THC tolerance it holds up as a daytime option. The Limonene/Terpinolene pairing leaves a zesty, clean aftertaste on the palate.

Where it fits: creative work, company, being outdoors, and unstructured daytime hours.

The Aromatic Three

Leading with Limonene, then Terpinolene, and Pinene underneath. This trio turns up repeatedly in cultivars that win things, and it is why a jar of Chernobyl tends to get a reaction the first time it is opened after curing. Limonene sets the anchor, terpinolene fills the middle, and pinene sits in the background doing the work that separates this from every other strain built on the same primary terpene.

Suitability and Recommendations

Chernobyl is a reasonable fit for growers with the basics already in place. Understand pH, know roughly what nutrient ratios do, and be able to hold a light cycle — it will not carry you, but it does not punish the occasional slip either. Photoperiod genetics leave size and timing in your hands — hold it in veg for a bigger plant, or flip early when headroom is the constraint. A September-to-May outdoor season comfortably covers a 8-9 weeks bloom in the frost-free provinces. Posted discreetly anywhere in South Africa, with sourced grow figures shown on every strain page.

Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

A newer late-2010s cross still being actively stabilised. F3 means three rounds of selection — the long-flowering uniformity is locked across the bulk of the pack, with a small variant subset under continued cull.

Breeding Goal

Stabilise Chernobyl across three rounds toward F4 production-ready stock.

Selection Focus

Chosen for clear-headed terpene expression, structural manageability and a finish that lands inside the published window.
