Royal King Genetics — Seed-Lot Testing

Figures below come from our own seed-lot testing rather than breeder marketing, taken from a single batch tested 2026-03-03 on 350 seeds.

Germination rate: 96.7% (n=350)
Last QC test date: 2026-03-03
Indoor yield: 372-498 g/m² (avg across 8 verified grower reports)
Outdoor yield: 674-974 g/plant (avg across 3 verified grower reports)

About Crystal Coma Feminised

Will Crystal Coma handle a South African summer outdoors? Yes. Put this 18/82 sativa in the ground between September and November and you will be cutting from March to May. It will stretch, and it will use every hour of a long summer day, so give it room early rather than trying to contain it later. Bloom runs 56-63 days indoors, placing harvest between March and May across most provinces.

What yield is realistic? 275–525 g/m² indoors is reachable under decent LED with steady feeding. Outdoors, 400–600 g/plant a plant is normal in 50 litre pots or straight into prepared ground in full sun. At 30% THC with limonene in front, the return on effort is good.

How much can go wrong before it shows? Some. Anyone who understands pH, a feeding schedule and a light cycle will be fine. Neglect it entirely and it will suffer, but a single missed watering will not undo the grow.

Further Questions from South African Growers

Which medium suits it best? Depends what you are optimising for. Organic soil cut with 30% perlite and amended with bone meal, rock phosphate and kelp meal gives the fuller flavour, and all three are stocked by garden centres, agricultural co-ops and hydro shops countrywide. Coco under automated fertigation at EC 1.4-1.8 through bloom gives the bigger number. This sativa genetics performs in either.

Does it cope with real summer heat? Better than most things you could plant. An open canopy sheds heat on its own. Past 38°C you may see midday wilt, but it recovers within the hour once temperatures fall — 30% shade cloth takes the edge off the UV without costing you growth.

When do I switch to bloom feed? As soon as pistils show, not a fortnight later. The 18/82 genetics changes its demand sharply at the transition: phosphorus and potassium uptake rises while nitrogen demand falls away. Soil growers can top-dress with guano and sulphate of potash; coco and hydro growers should move to a low-N, high-PK formula immediately.

Indoors or outdoors? Indoors buys control over the 56-63 days indoors environment. Outdoors, across a September-to-May season, gives you sunlight intensity no LED at any price reproduces, and the full 400–600 g/plant. Difficulty: easy. In flower for 56-63 days indoors. Stands 170–210 cm. Indoors it returns 275–525 g/m². Outdoors, 400–600 g/plant a plant.

Aroma, Flavour and Effect

The first thing Crystal Coma does at 30% THC is lift it with a bright, nearly effervescent citrus. The euphoric, creative effects follow within minutes, as a sharpening rather than a lift: colour reads more saturated, music holds more detail, conversation wanders further than it would have. It runs two to three hours on a plateau instead of a peak, so nothing drops out from under you at the end. Pinene sits underneath all of it, adding an alertness that keeps thinking crisp.

The Aromatic Three

Leading with Limonene, then Pinene, and Terpinolene underneath. How this combination survives the move from flower to vapour or smoke is not a given. Held low, at 180-188°C, the pinene and terpinolene notes stay legible with limonene underneath them. Run it hotter, or burn it, and the three collapse into one — still pleasant, but without the separation that makes this cultivar worth paying attention to.

Suitability and Recommendations

Who does well with Crystal Coma? Indoor growers who want the harvest date to be their decision. Outdoor growers who want to choose the moment flowering starts. Anyone with the room and the patience to veg it properly before flipping. It is rated easy, which in practice means a moderate learning curve that rewards attention without needing laboratory conditions. Sent nationwide in plain, unbranded packaging, with sourced grow data on every strain page.

Royal King Genetics Filial Programme — four-generation pheno fixing
Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

Crystal Coma runs through our F4 programme. Four cycles of phenotype selection have removed the worst of the trait variation; what is left is a tight, predictable population for production.

Breeding Goal

Cull off-type phenos in Crystal Coma through filial selection.

Selection Focus

Chosen for trichome density, sativa branching architecture and an energising terpene expression.
