About Fruity Widow Feminised

Fruity Widow announces itself in a fixed order, and linalool is always first out of the jar — soft lavender with a powdery sweetness behind it, like a garden an hour after rain. myrcene follows mid-palate, adding an earthy floor. The lab figure on this 72/28 indica is 20% THC, though potency is the least interesting thing about it — plenty of cultivars test the same and taste of very little.

Growing for Aroma Rather Than Weight

The choices that bring out the Linalool/Myrcene/Caryophyllene profile in Fruity Widow are not the choices that maximise yield, and at some point you have to pick one. The aromatic version starts in living soil — microbial activity in an established no-till bed produces secondary metabolites a synthetic feed schedule never will, and South Africa has enough good local compost and worm-casting suppliers to make that affordable rather than aspirational.

Through 8-10 weeks, stop foliar spraying after week two: anything that lands on a developing trichome is still there at harvest. The closing three weeks decide which terpenes end up in front — nights held at 16-18°C push linalool forward, a warmer finish protects the lighter caryophyllene top notes, and you cannot have both. Decide which version of the strain you want before you get there.

Most of the loss happens after the cut. Hang for 10-14 days at 15-18°C and 55-60% humidity, which through a South African summer realistically means a climate-controlled room or a wine fridge set to 16°C. Then jar it and burp twice daily for the first fortnight. The myrcene layer that makes this cultivar worth the trouble does not surface until somewhere between day 21 and day 28 in glass.

Difficulty: difficult. In flower for 8-10 weeks. Stands 150-250 cm. Indoors it returns < 155 g/m² (< 150 g/m²). Outdoors, 283-425 g/plant (~ 400 g/plant) a plant.

What Fruity Widow Is Like to Use

The effects most commonly reported for this cultivar are creative, calm. At 20% THC it sits in a bracket where the dose does most of the work. A single bowl vaporised at 185°C gives a manageable body relaxation with your head still intact — enough to close out a long day in the summer heat. Push the dose and it moves decisively toward physical sedation, which is how it tends to end up as a winter evening cultivar. The Linalool/Myrcene pairing leaves a shifting profile that keeps turning up new notes on the palate.

Where it fits: quiet evenings, a film, recovery after exercise, and the hours before sleep.

The Aromatic Three

Leading with Linalool, then Myrcene, and Caryophyllene underneath. This trio turns up repeatedly in cultivars that win things, and it is why a jar of Fruity Widow tends to get a reaction the first time it is opened after curing. Linalool sets the anchor, myrcene fills the middle, and caryophyllene sits in the background doing the work that separates this from every other strain built on the same primary terpene.

Suitability and Recommendations

Fruity Widow is a reasonable fit for growers with the basics already in place. Understand pH, know roughly what nutrient ratios do, and be able to hold a light cycle — it will not carry you, but it does not punish the occasional slip either. Photoperiod genetics leave size and timing in your hands — hold it in veg for a bigger plant, or flip early when headroom is the constraint. A September-to-May outdoor season comfortably covers a 8-10 weeks bloom in the frost-free provinces. Posted discreetly anywhere in South Africa, with sourced grow figures shown on every strain page.

Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

Fruity Widow has been progressed through four generations of phenotype hunting and selection. Vigour, trichome saturation and finishing time are all locked across the pack — every plant performs to the spec sheet.

Breeding Goal

Pin trichome saturation consistency across the Fruity Widow population.

Selection Focus

Chosen for trichome coverage, stout structure and consistent flowering time across the pack.

Pollen / Mother Source

Royal King Genetics select-mother programme — pollen drawn from an internally maintained reversed-female line.
