Royal King Genetics — Seed-Lot Testing

Figures below come from our own seed-lot testing rather than breeder marketing, taken from a single batch tested 2026-03-18 on 100 seeds.

Germination rate: 98.3% (n=100)
Last QC test date: 2026-03-18
Indoor yield: 381-514 g/m² (avg across 9 verified grower reports)
Outdoor yield: 631-936 g/plant (avg across 4 verified grower reports)

About Jack the Ripper Feminised

Will Jack the Ripper handle a South African summer outdoors? Yes. Put this 25/75 sativa in the ground between September and November and you will be cutting from March to May. It will stretch, and it will use every hour of a long summer day, so give it room early rather than trying to contain it later. Bloom runs 8-9 weeks, placing harvest between March and May across most provinces.

What yield is realistic? Up to 200g/m² indoors is reachable under decent LED with steady feeding. Outdoors, Up to 400 gr a plant is normal in 50 litre pots or straight into prepared ground in full sun. At 18% THC with terpinolene in front, the return on effort is good.

How much can go wrong before it shows? Some. Anyone who understands pH, a feeding schedule and a light cycle will be fine. Neglect it entirely and it will suffer, but a single missed watering will not undo the grow.

Further Questions from South African Growers

Which medium suits it best? Depends what you are optimising for. Organic soil cut with 30% perlite and amended with bone meal, rock phosphate and kelp meal gives the fuller flavour, and all three are stocked by garden centres, agricultural co-ops and hydro shops countrywide. Coco under automated fertigation at EC 1.4-1.8 through bloom gives the bigger number. This sativa genetics performs in either.

Does it cope with real summer heat? Better than most things you could plant. An open canopy sheds heat on its own. Past 38°C you may see midday wilt, but it recovers within the hour once temperatures fall — 30% shade cloth takes the edge off the UV without costing you growth.

When do I switch to bloom feed? As soon as pistils show, not a fortnight later. The 25/75 genetics changes its demand sharply at the transition: phosphorus and potassium uptake rises while nitrogen demand falls away. Soil growers can top-dress with guano and sulphate of potash; coco and hydro growers should move to a low-N, high-PK formula immediately.

Indoors or outdoors? Indoors buys control over the 8-9 weeks environment. Outdoors, across a September-to-May season, gives you sunlight intensity no LED at any price reproduces, and the full Up to 400 gr. Difficulty: medium. In flower for 8-9 weeks. Stands Medium. Indoors it returns Up to 200g/m². Outdoors, Up to 400 gr a plant.

What Jack the Ripper Is Like to Use

The effects most commonly reported for this cultivar are creative, energetic, happy. At 18% THC it sits in a bracket where there is a usable working range. Vaporised between 175°C and 185°C it lifts mood and mental energy in a way that suits creative work, a hike, or a long afternoon around a braai. The body stays light, so for anyone with a THC tolerance it holds up as a daytime option. The Terpinolene/Limonene pairing leaves a shifting profile that keeps turning up new notes on the palate.

Where it fits: creative work, company, being outdoors, and unstructured daytime hours.

The Aromatic Three

Leading with Terpinolene, then Limonene, and Ocimene underneath. This trio turns up repeatedly in cultivars that win things, and it is why a jar of Jack the Ripper tends to get a reaction the first time it is opened after curing. Terpinolene sets the anchor, limonene fills the middle, and ocimene sits in the background doing the work that separates this from every other strain built on the same primary terpene.

Suitability and Recommendations

Jack the Ripper is a reasonable fit for growers with the basics already in place. Understand pH, know roughly what nutrient ratios do, and be able to hold a light cycle — it will not carry you, but it does not punish the occasional slip either. Photoperiod genetics leave size and timing in your hands — hold it in veg for a bigger plant, or flip early when headroom is the constraint. A September-to-May outdoor season comfortably covers a 8-9 weeks bloom in the frost-free provinces. Posted discreetly anywhere in South Africa, with sourced grow figures shown on every strain page.

Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

Five generations of inbred selection on the original 1990s landrace-derived Jack the Ripper cuts. We were not chasing a redesign — we locked the finished-flower potency that earned this cultivar its reputation. Whatever the next pack throws is what the last pack threw.

Breeding Goal

Pin down the original 1990s landrace-derived terpene profile in modern seed form.

Selection Focus

Chosen for terpene saturation, sativa vigour and a workable finish time despite long-flowering genetics.

Pollen / Mother Source

Royal King Genetics in-house mother stock — pollen taken from a sibling male drawn from the same selected pheno population.
