About OCAs Cloud 9 Feminised

OCAs Cloud 9 announces itself in a fixed order, and terpinolene is always first out of the jar — a herbal bouquet that resists being placed, part rosemary and part crisp apple, with a floral edge that shifts the longer you breathe it in. limonene follows mid-palate, adding a bright citrus edge. The lab figure on this 16/84 sativa is 25% THC, though potency is the least interesting thing about it — plenty of cultivars test the same and taste of very little.

Growing for Aroma Rather Than Weight

The choices that bring out the Terpinolene/Limonene/Ocimene profile in OCAs Cloud 9 are not the choices that maximise yield, and at some point you have to pick one. The aromatic version starts in living soil — microbial activity in an established no-till bed produces secondary metabolites a synthetic feed schedule never will, and South Africa has enough good local compost and worm-casting suppliers to make that affordable rather than aspirational.

Through 70-80 days, stop foliar spraying after week two: anything that lands on a developing trichome is still there at harvest. The closing three weeks decide which terpenes end up in front — nights held at 16-18°C push terpinolene forward, a warmer finish protects the lighter ocimene top notes, and you cannot have both. Decide which version of the strain you want before you get there.

Most of the loss happens after the cut. Hang for 10-14 days at 15-18°C and 55-60% humidity, which through a South African summer realistically means a climate-controlled room or a wine fridge set to 16°C. Then jar it and burp twice daily for the first fortnight. The limonene layer that makes this cultivar worth the trouble does not surface until somewhere between day 21 and day 28 in glass.

Difficulty: intermediate. In flower for 70-80 days. Stands Short. Indoors it returns up to 450 g/m2. Outdoors, up to 550 g/plant a plant.

What OCAs Cloud 9 Is Like to Use

The effects most commonly reported for this cultivar are focused, calm. At 25% THC it sits in a bracket where there is a usable working range. Vaporised between 175°C and 185°C it lifts mood and mental energy in a way that suits creative work, a hike, or a long afternoon around a braai. The body stays light, so for anyone with a THC tolerance it holds up as a daytime option. The Terpinolene/Limonene pairing leaves a shifting profile that keeps turning up new notes on the palate.

Where it fits: creative work, company, being outdoors, and unstructured daytime hours.

The Aromatic Three

Leading with Terpinolene, then Limonene, and Ocimene underneath. This trio turns up repeatedly in cultivars that win things, and it is why a jar of OCAs Cloud 9 tends to get a reaction the first time it is opened after curing. Terpinolene sets the anchor, limonene fills the middle, and ocimene sits in the background doing the work that separates this from every other strain built on the same primary terpene.

Suitability and Recommendations

OCAs Cloud 9 is a reasonable fit for growers with the basics already in place. Understand pH, know roughly what nutrient ratios do, and be able to hold a light cycle — it will not carry you, but it does not punish the occasional slip either. Photoperiod genetics leave size and timing in your hands — hold it in veg for a bigger plant, or flip early when headroom is the constraint. A September-to-May outdoor season comfortably covers a 70-80 days bloom in the frost-free provinces. Posted discreetly anywhere in South Africa, with sourced grow figures shown on every strain page.

Two-Generation Backcross Programme — recurrent-parent fixing
Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

A modern recent-era hybrid carrying at least one clone-only parent. BX2 is the right stabilisation point: two rounds of backcross fix the parent-cut traits without narrowing the population too far.

Breeding Goal

Carry a clone-derived recent-era hybrid through to a stable seed pack.

Selection Focus

Chosen for terpene saturation, sativa vigour and a workable finish time despite long-flowering genetics.

Pollen / Mother Source
