About Orange Skunk Feminised

Will Orange Skunk handle a South African summer outdoors? Yes. Put this 16/84 sativa in the ground between September and November and you will be cutting from March to May. It will stretch, and it will use every hour of a long summer day, so give it room early rather than trying to contain it later. Bloom runs ±60 days, placing harvest between March and May across most provinces.

What yield is realistic? 800 gr/m² indoors is reachable under decent LED with steady feeding. Outdoors, 800 grams a plant is normal in 50 litre pots or straight into prepared ground in full sun. At 18% THC with limonene in front, the return on effort is good.

How much can go wrong before it shows? Some. Anyone who understands pH, a feeding schedule and a light cycle will be fine. Neglect it entirely and it will suffer, but a single missed watering will not undo the grow.

Further Questions from South African Growers

Which medium suits it best? Depends what you are optimising for. Organic soil cut with 30% perlite and amended with bone meal, rock phosphate and kelp meal gives the fuller flavour, and all three are stocked by garden centres, agricultural co-ops and hydro shops countrywide. Coco under automated fertigation at EC 1.4-1.8 through bloom gives the bigger number. This sativa genetics performs in either.

Does it cope with real summer heat? Better than most things you could plant. An open canopy sheds heat on its own. Past 38°C you may see midday wilt, but it recovers within the hour once temperatures fall — 30% shade cloth takes the edge off the UV without costing you growth.

When do I switch to bloom feed? As soon as pistils show, not a fortnight later. The 16/84 genetics changes its demand sharply at the transition: phosphorus and potassium uptake rises while nitrogen demand falls away. Soil growers can top-dress with guano and sulphate of potash; coco and hydro growers should move to a low-N, high-PK formula immediately.

Indoors or outdoors? Indoors buys control over the ±60 days environment. Outdoors, across a September-to-May season, gives you sunlight intensity no LED at any price reproduces, and the full 800 grams. Difficulty: medium. In flower for ±60 days. Stands 90-120 cm. Medium. Indoors it returns 800 gr/m². Outdoors, 800 grams a plant.

Aroma, Flavour and Effect

The first thing Orange Skunk does at 18% THC is lift it with a bright, nearly effervescent citrus. The creative, calm effects follow within minutes, as a sharpening rather than a lift: colour reads more saturated, music holds more detail, conversation wanders further than it would have. It runs two to three hours on a plateau instead of a peak, so nothing drops out from under you at the end. Pinene sits underneath all of it, adding an alertness that keeps thinking crisp.

The Aromatic Three

Leading with Limonene, then Pinene, and Terpinolene underneath. Read across a cure, these three compounds do not stay in the same order. Fresh off the dry, limonene leads. After three or four weeks in sealed glass at 16-18°C the terpinolene undertone comes up and the bouquet gains a layer it did not have at harvest. Vaporising between 180°C and 195°C captures the widest span of them — run it hotter and the volatile terpinolene molecules are the first thing you lose.

Suitability and Recommendations

Who does well with Orange Skunk? Indoor growers who want the harvest date to be their decision. Outdoor growers who want to choose the moment flowering starts. Anyone with the room and the patience to veg it properly before flipping. It is rated medium, which in practice means a moderate learning curve that rewards attention without needing laboratory conditions. Sent nationwide in plain, unbranded packaging, with sourced grow data on every strain page.

Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

One of the longest-running stabilisation projects in our catalogue. Orange Skunk traces its origins to 2010s production stock, and the Royal King Genetics team has layered five generations of inbred selection on top. Pheno drift has been pulled out of the line; pack-after-pack, what you grow runs true.

Breeding Goal

Restabilise a 2010s production cultivar to contemporary uniformity standards.

Selection Focus

Chosen for clear-headed terpene expression, structural manageability and a finish that lands inside the published window.

Pollen / Mother Source

Royal King Genetics in-house mother stock — pollen taken from a sibling male drawn from the same selected pheno population.
