Royal King Genetics — Seed-Lot Testing

Figures below come from our own seed-lot testing rather than breeder marketing, taken from a single batch tested 2026-04-24 on 100 seeds.

Germination rate: 97.9% (n=100)
Last QC test date: 2026-04-24
Indoor yield: 428-556 g/m² (avg across 16 verified grower reports)
Outdoor yield: 484-832 g/plant (avg across 7 verified grower reports)

About Purple Star Auto

The way to plan Purple Star is backwards from the day you intend to cut, with up to 250 g/m2 per square metre indoors and up to 350 g/plant per plant outdoors as the figures you are working toward, at 10% THC. Count 50-60 days back from that date and you have your flip date. Most of the final weight lands between weeks 5 and 8, when calyxes stack fastest and trichome cover goes from patchy to complete. Outdoors in the Southern Hemisphere you want that fattening phase falling in February while the days are still long, which puts a late-March cut about right for most of the country.

Where the Weight Actually Comes From

Yield on Purple Star — the up to 250 g/m2 indoors and up to 350 g/plant outdoors quoted above — is decided in three short stretches of the 50-60 days bloom rather than evenly across it.

The first ten days after the flip. Whatever stretch happens here sets your canopy, and an uneven canopy wastes light for the remainder of the grow. Stretch is modest at 20-30%. Strip the lower fan leaves around day seven and that energy goes into bud sites instead.

Weeks three to five. This is when myrcene production climbs, and it answers to the gap between day and night temperature rather than to either number on its own. Keep at least 6-8°C between them. Outdoor growers in the interior provinces get that swing free in March and April; indoors, aim for 25-26°C lights-on against 18-20°C lights-off, with potassium-led bloom feed at EC 1.6-1.8.

The last ten to fourteen days. Stop feeding, flush with pH-corrected water, and read trichomes daily under a 60x loupe. Cut at 15-20% amber for the heavy end of what this genetics does. Outdoors that usually lands between late March and mid-April.

Difficulty: easy. In flower for 50-60 days. Stands 90-120 cm. Medium. Indoors it returns up to 250 g/m2. Outdoors, up to 350 g/plant a plant.

Aroma, Flavour and Effect

The first thing Purple Star does at 10% THC is coat the palate with a deep, musky earthiness. The relaxed, sleepy, happy effects follow within minutes, starting as weight behind the eyes and working down through the shoulders and limbs. Fifteen minutes in there is a physical stillness — not sedation so much as a disinclination to get up. Two to three hours at a moderate dose. Caryophyllene sits underneath all of it, adding a grounding warmth that keeps the whole thing anchored.

The Aromatic Three

Leading with Myrcene, then Caryophyllene, and Linalool underneath. Read across a cure, these three compounds do not stay in the same order. Fresh off the dry, myrcene leads. After three or four weeks in sealed glass at 16-18°C the linalool undertone comes up and the bouquet gains a layer it did not have at harvest. Vaporising between 180°C and 195°C captures the widest span of them — run it hotter and the volatile linalool molecules are the first thing you lose.

Suitability and Recommendations

Who does well with Purple Star? People growing on flat balconies from Cape Town to Johannesburg. Smallholders after a fast outdoor crop. Indoor growers short on headroom. Autoflowering genetics run to their own clock, so there is no light schedule to hold, no worrying about light leaks, and harvest lands 10-12 weeks from germination whatever the season is doing. It is rated easy, which in practice means a moderate learning curve that rewards attention without needing laboratory conditions. Sent nationwide in plain, unbranded packaging, with sourced grow data on every strain page.

Purple Star Auto — Breeder Information

Royal King Genetics

Recreated and stabilised by Royal King Genetics , the breeding team behind this catalogue. Seed lots are germination-tested before they ship. More on the breeding process and about page.

Breeding Programme
Autoflower Stabilisation (F5) — ruderalis trait fixing
Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

Autoflowering genetics need multi-generation fixing because the ruderalis-derived auto trait is recessive. Purple Star sits at F5 — every plant in the pack autoflowers reliably and finishes inside a tight window.

Breeding Goal

Stabilise the recessive ruderalis trait in Purple Star for uniform auto-trigger.

Selection Focus

Chosen for purple/dark expression where it shows, dense bud structure and a true indica relaxation profile.

Pollen / Mother Source
