Royal King Genetics — Seed-Lot Testing

Figures below come from our own seed-lot testing rather than breeder marketing, taken from a single batch tested 2026-04-10 on 475 seeds.

Germination rate: 97.2% (n=475)
Last QC test date: 2026-04-10
Indoor yield: 434-548 g/m² (avg across 6 verified grower reports)
Outdoor yield: 520-710 g/plant (avg across 9 verified grower reports)

About Big Devil Feminised

The way to plan Big Devil is backwards from the day you intend to cut, with 500-650 g/m2 per square metre indoors and 700 g per plant per plant outdoors as the figures you are working toward, at 18% THC. Count 8-9 weeks back from that date and you have your flip date. Weight comes on evenly across 8-9 weeks, with a late surge that punishes impatience. The 44/56 balance gives you stacking density and broad trichome cover together. Outdoors, late March to late April is the sweet spot — after the summer humidity has broken, before the first Highveld frost.

Where the Weight Actually Comes From

Yield on Big Devil — the 500-650 g/m2 indoors and 700 g per plant outdoors quoted above — is decided in three short stretches of the 8-9 weeks bloom rather than evenly across it.

The first ten days after the flip. Whatever stretch happens here sets your canopy, and an uneven canopy wastes light for the remainder of the grow. Stretch of 30-40% is normal. One round of low-stress training on the tallest shoots levels it out.

Weeks three to five. This is when caryophyllene production climbs, and it answers to the gap between day and night temperature rather than to either number on its own. Keep at least 6-8°C between them. Outdoor growers in the interior provinces get that swing free in March and April; indoors, aim for 25-26°C lights-on against 18-20°C lights-off, with potassium-led bloom feed at EC 1.6-1.8.

The last ten to fourteen days. Stop feeding, flush with pH-corrected water, and read trichomes daily under a 60x loupe. Cut at 10-15% amber to keep both sides of the hybrid in play. Outdoors that usually lands between late March and mid-April.

Difficulty: easy. In flower for 8-9 weeks. Stands Medium (100-150 cm). Indoors it returns 500-650 g/m2. Outdoors, 700 g per plant a plant.

Aroma, Flavour and Effect

The first thing Big Devil does at 18% THC is settle a warm peppery spice at the back of the throat. The euphoric, creative, energetic, calm effects follow within minutes, across head and body at once. Thinking stays clear while muscle tension drains off, which leaves the dose as the deciding factor — light for the afternoon, heavier and it moves into the evening without a jolt. Limonene sits underneath all of it, adding a brightness that offsets any heaviness.

The Aromatic Three

Leading with Caryophyllene, then Limonene, and Myrcene underneath. Read across a cure, these three compounds do not stay in the same order. Fresh off the dry, caryophyllene leads. After three or four weeks in sealed glass at 16-18°C the myrcene undertone comes up and the bouquet gains a layer it did not have at harvest. Vaporising between 180°C and 195°C captures the widest span of them — run it hotter and the volatile myrcene molecules are the first thing you lose.

Suitability and Recommendations

Who does well with Big Devil? Indoor growers who want the harvest date to be their decision. Outdoor growers who want to choose the moment flowering starts. Anyone with the room and the patience to veg it properly before flipping. It is rated easy, which in practice means a moderate learning curve that rewards attention without needing laboratory conditions. Sent nationwide in plain, unbranded packaging, with sourced grow data on every strain page.

Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

Big Devil carries clone-derived parents from the late-2010s. We backcrossed twice to the dominant parent (BX2) to weld cut-specific traits into seed-stable form. Vigour and pack-to-pack uniformity run uniform across the population.

Breeding Goal

Carry a clone-derived late-2010s hybrid through to a stable seed pack.

Selection Focus

Chosen for terpene profile, vigour, structure and finish-time consistency.

Pollen / Mother Source

Royal King Genetics in-house breeder room — pollen taken from a generation-tracked sibling-male line.
