Last QC test date: 2026-02-14
Indoor yield: 425-574 g/m² (avg across 9 verified grower reports)
Outdoor yield: 515-848 g/plant (avg across 8 verified grower reports)

About Mimosa Auto

Mimosa announces itself in a fixed order, and limonene is always first out of the jar — a citrus lift that arrives before the lid is fully off, lemon rind and tangerine with a sweetness trailing it. terpinolene follows mid-palate, adding a quieter secondary note. The lab figure on this 30/70 sativa is 22% THC, though potency is the least interesting thing about it — plenty of cultivars test the same and taste of very little.

Growing for Aroma Rather Than Weight

The choices that bring out the Limonene/Terpinolene/Pinene profile in Mimosa are not the choices that maximise yield, and at some point you have to pick one. The aromatic version starts in living soil — microbial activity in an established no-till bed produces secondary metabolites a synthetic feed schedule never will, and South Africa has enough good local compost and worm-casting suppliers to make that affordable rather than aspirational.

Through 65-70 days after germination, stop foliar spraying after week two: anything that lands on a developing trichome is still there at harvest. The closing three weeks decide which terpenes end up in front — nights held at 16-18°C push limonene forward, a warmer finish protects the lighter pinene top notes, and you cannot have both. Decide which version of the strain you want before you get there.

Most of the loss happens after the cut. Hang for 10-14 days at 15-18°C and 55-60% humidity, which through a South African summer realistically means a climate-controlled room or a wine fridge set to 16°C. Then jar it and burp twice daily for the first fortnight. The terpinolene layer that makes this cultivar worth the trouble does not surface until somewhere between day 21 and day 28 in glass.

Difficulty: beginner. In flower for 65-70 days after germination. Stands 90 - 150 cm. Indoors it returns 340 - 395 g/m2. Outdoors, 85 - 113 g/plant a plant.

What Mimosa Is Like to Use

The effects most commonly reported for this cultivar are creative, energetic, euphoric. At 22% THC it sits in a bracket where there is a usable working range. Vaporised between 175°C and 185°C it lifts mood and mental energy in a way that suits creative work, a hike, or a long afternoon around a braai. The body stays light, so for anyone with a THC tolerance it holds up as a daytime option. The Limonene/Terpinolene pairing leaves a zesty, clean aftertaste on the palate.

Where it fits: creative work, company, being outdoors, and unstructured daytime hours.

The Aromatic Three

Leading with Limonene, then Terpinolene, and Pinene underneath. This trio turns up repeatedly in cultivars that win things, and it is why a jar of Mimosa tends to get a reaction the first time it is opened after curing. Limonene sets the anchor, terpinolene fills the middle, and pinene sits in the background doing the work that separates this from every other strain built on the same primary terpene.

Suitability and Recommendations

Mimosa is a reasonable fit for anyone, a first outdoor season included. The genetics absorb the usual early mistakes — overwatering, drifting pH, an erratic feeding schedule — without turning a harvest into a write-off. Because it autoflowers there is no light cycle to manage at all, which is what makes it work on a balcony, in an out-of-the-way outdoor spot, or anywhere a timer would be one more thing to go wrong. A September-to-May outdoor season comfortably covers a 65-70 days after germination bloom in the frost-free provinces. Posted discreetly anywhere in South Africa, with sourced grow figures shown on every strain page.

Autoflower Programme — five-generation auto trait fixing
Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

Mimosa is an autoflowering line that has been progressed through five rounds of Royal King Genetics autoflower stabilisation. The autoflower trait is recessive — fixing it takes multi-generation work — and at F5 the auto trigger and finish window are welded across the pack.

Breeding Goal

Lock the autoflower trait in Mimosa through five generations of selection.

Selection Focus

Chosen for terpene saturation, sativa vigour and a workable finish time despite long-flowering genetics.

Pollen / Mother Source

Royal King Genetics in-house mother stock — pollen taken from a sibling male drawn from the same selected pheno population.
