Germination rate: 98.1% (n=250)
Last QC test date: 2026-02-13
Indoor yield: 454-592 g/m² (avg across 14 verified grower reports)
Outdoor yield: 490-752 g/plant (avg across 9 verified grower reports)

About Death Star Auto

Will Death Star handle a South African summer outdoors? Yes. Put this 70/30 indica in the ground between September and November and you will be cutting from March to May. It stays low enough not to clear a boundary wall, and the short frame carries more weight than its size suggests. Bloom runs 50-60 days, placing harvest between March and May across most provinces.

What yield is realistic? up to 300 g/m2 indoors is reachable under decent LED with steady feeding. Outdoors, up to 250 g/plant a plant is normal in 50 litre pots or straight into prepared ground in full sun. At 24% THC with myrcene in front, the return on effort is good.

How much can go wrong before it shows? Some. Anyone who understands pH, a feeding schedule and a light cycle will be fine. Neglect it entirely and it will suffer, but a single missed watering will not undo the grow.

Further Questions from South African Growers

Which medium suits it best? Depends what you are optimising for. Organic soil cut with 30% perlite and amended with bone meal, rock phosphate and kelp meal gives the fuller flavour, and all three are stocked by garden centres, agricultural co-ops and hydro shops countrywide. Coco under automated fertigation at EC 1.4-1.8 through bloom gives the bigger number. This indica genetics performs in either.

Does it cope with real summer heat? Reasonably. The dense foliage shades itself, so a spell above 28°C slows growth without stalling it. Mulch the root zone and water before 7am and heat stress stays manageable through most of the country.

When do I switch to bloom feed? As soon as pistils show, not a fortnight later. The 70/30 genetics changes its demand sharply at the transition: phosphorus and potassium uptake rises while nitrogen demand falls away. Soil growers can top-dress with guano and sulphate of potash; coco and hydro growers should move to a low-N, high-PK formula immediately.

Indoors or outdoors? Indoors buys control over the 50-60 days environment. Outdoors, across a September-to-May season, gives you sunlight intensity no LED at any price reproduces, and the full up to 250 g/plant. Difficulty: easy. In flower for 50-60 days. Stands 61-152 cm. Indoors it returns up to 300 g/m2. Outdoors, up to 250 g/plant a plant.

Aroma, Flavour and Effect

The first thing Death Star does at 24% THC is coat the palate with a deep, musky earthiness. The happy, relaxed, sleepy effects follow within minutes, starting as weight behind the eyes and working down through the shoulders and limbs. Fifteen minutes in there is a physical stillness — not sedation so much as a disinclination to get up. Two to three hours at a moderate dose. Caryophyllene sits underneath all of it, adding a grounding warmth that keeps the whole thing anchored.

The Aromatic Three

Leading with Myrcene, then Caryophyllene, and Linalool underneath. Read across a cure, these three compounds do not stay in the same order. Fresh off the dry, myrcene leads. After three or four weeks in sealed glass at 16-18°C the linalool undertone comes up and the bouquet gains a layer it did not have at harvest. Vaporising between 180°C and 195°C captures the widest span of them — run it hotter and the volatile linalool molecules are the first thing you lose.

Suitability and Recommendations

Who does well with Death Star? People growing on flat balconies from Cape Town to Johannesburg. Smallholders after a fast outdoor crop. Indoor growers short on headroom. Autoflowering genetics run to their own clock, so there is no light schedule to hold, no worrying about light leaks, and harvest lands 10-12 weeks from germination whatever the season is doing. It is rated easy, which in practice means a moderate learning curve that rewards attention without needing laboratory conditions. Sent nationwide in plain, unbranded packaging, with sourced grow data on every strain page.

Breeding Programme
Royal King Genetics Auto Line — recessive trait stabilisation
Stabilisation Notes — What This Means for Your Grow

Five generations of selection on Death Star to lock the autoflower trait. Auto trigger reliability and trichome saturation expression both run uniform across the population — no rogue photoperiod plants in the pack.

Breeding Goal

Stabilise the recessive ruderalis trait in Death Star for uniform auto-trigger.

Selection Focus

Chosen for purple/dark expression where it shows, dense bud structure and a true indica relaxation profile.

Pollen / Mother Source

Royal King Genetics breeding facility — pollen from internally selected sibling males of the recurrent parent.
